Leadership

The leadership of the church consists of Deacons and Elders. These groups together, ensure the spiritual and financial wellness of the church as a whole.

The office of deacon as set forth in the Scriptures is ordinary and perpetual in the Church. The office of deacon is one of sympathy and service after the example of Christ.

To this office should be chosen individuals who are faithful and diligent Christians of good character, of honest repute, exemplary life, brotherly love, sympathetic nature, and sound judgment, who are qualified under the standards recorded in 1 Tim. 3:8-13.

A deacon shall be a member in good standing of the congregation, actively sharing in the worship and service of the Church and giving particular emphasis to the duties of his office.

The office of elder as set forth in the Scriptures is ordinary and perpetual in the Church. In both the Old Testament and New Testament church, God ordained elders to govern and discipline his people.

To this office of elder shall be chosen men of wisdom, discretion, sound faith and godly life, and who are qualified under the standards recorded in 1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9.

An elder shall be a member in good standing of the congregation, actively sharing in the worship and service of the Church and giving particular emphasis to the duties of his office.

It is the responsibility of elders, both individually and jointly, to guard and promote the spiritual welfare of the congregation. Although ruling elders do represent congregations by election, they are to seek the will of God in all church court decisions.

Pastor Matt & Carla Mantooth

Matt & Carla joined our church family in July of 2026. Matt came to us from First Presbytery, where he served for 12 years at Back Creek ARP Church—first as Associate Pastor of Student Ministries and later as Associate Pastor to Families. His ministry within the ARP began in 2005 when he was called to Neely’s Creek ARP Church.

Matt grew up as a covenant child at Evergreen PCA, the son of Billy and Phyllis Mantooth. During his teenage years, while attending Smoky Mountain Church Camp, Matt placed his faith in Jesus Christ.

Matt and Carla were high school sweethearts and married in their early twenties. Matt is a graduate of Covenant College and Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, while Carla graduated from East Tennessee State University. Since college, Carla has passionately cared for premature and critically ill babies in the NICU, and throughout their years of ministry, she has faithfully served alongside Matt.

Together, Matt and Carla have two young adult children, Lily and Hayden. As a family, they enjoy spending time together in God’s beautiful creation—whether at the beach, in the mountains, or simply enjoying the beauty around them locally.
