Leadership

The leadership of the church consists of Deacons and Elders. These groups together, ensure the spiritual and financial wellness of the church as a whole.

The office of deacon as set forth in the Scriptures is ordinary and perpetual in the Church. The office of deacon is one of sympathy and service after the example of Christ.

To this office should be chosen individuals who are faithful and diligent Christians of good character, of honest repute, exemplary life, brotherly love, sympathetic nature, and sound judgment, who are qualified under the standards recorded in 1 Tim. 3:8-13.

A deacon shall be a member in good standing of the congregation, actively sharing in the worship and service of the Church and giving particular emphasis to the duties of his office.

The office of elder as set forth in the Scriptures is ordinary and perpetual in the Church. In both the Old Testament and New Testament church, God ordained elders to govern and discipline his people.

To this office of elder shall be chosen men of wisdom, discretion, sound faith and godly life, and who are qualified under the standards recorded in 1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9.

An elder shall be a member in good standing of the congregation, actively sharing in the worship and service of the Church and giving particular emphasis to the duties of his office.

It is the responsibility of elders, both individually and jointly, to guard and promote the spiritual welfare of the congregation. Although ruling elders do represent congregations by election, they are to seek the will of God in all church court decisions.

Randy & Cathy Foster

Randy became a convert to Christianity in his early childhood. He is consistently amazed at God’s leading throughout his and Cathy’s life together of over 40 years of marriage. After college at UNC-Greensboro Randy continued to work as a manager in a package delivery company. In late 1996 he felt the call to ministry and began seminary the next year leaving his company of 22 years. After graduating from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte he received a call to Maupin Avenue in the fall of 2003.

Cathy and Randy are passionate hikers wherever they can find time to vacation, but especially in Sedona, Arizona. They have two grown daughters whom they are very proud of who live in the mountains of North Carolina. Ministering at Maupin has been the delight of their lives and the people here have made it so. There is nothing more fulfilling than to come along side to encourage and empower the congregation of Maupin Avenue to live faithfully and to love as Christ wherever they live, work, learn, or play.
